How to read your coupons

  • Know what you are entitled to.
  • Are there any exceptions? A specific size, brand, quantity.
  • Can you find a loop hole? If a coupon says ANY you can use it on any product even if it isn't in the picture.
  • Look for the expiration date. That is the first thing cashiers look for, so you should also know where it is in case they need you to point it out.
  • Look for a canadian mailing address, very rarely do coupons with a US address be valid for Canada, unless the coupon notes it.
  • Does the value of the coupon include taxes? Last month Shoppers had a $1.79 Adidas deo on sale, and right beside it were $2.00 off coupons. Normally a cashier will adjust the coupon to the price of the item, and you are left to pay the tax, but in this case the coupon includes the taxes resulting in purchase to be FREE.
